what music means to me

Music is my best friend. I began to touch music when I couldn’t speak well. At that time, I was always listening to music from radios, tapes and Vinyl LP. Because my mother is a violinist, so I began to study play violin when I was 4 years old. So it has accompanied with me more than 20 years and he knows what I am thinking and what my style is. It’s quite difficult to insist on one thing for such a long time and I think this is what I want to do for my whole life. During this time, I’ve learnt a lot of things not only about music, but some parts in my life. So on the other hand, what I’ve got from music is how to life.
Music is also my major now. Now I am a violin major student of YSTCM. I practice every day the reason is: 1st, I like music so I want to play; 2nd; I need to play because it’s related to my scholarship. 3rd, it’s quite possible that this is my work in future. So I need to play frequently.

Reflection

I think it is very useful to have English lesson this semester because I got improvement on tense and vocabulary obviously. It is normal to make mistakes during my study,but the important thing is to find out mistakes and correct them. Not only in school time, but during the life and work in future. Thank you,Chirs! You taught me a lot!

The musical ‘The phantom of the opera’ was composed by Andrew Webber which was premiered in 1986.It considered one of the most successful musical in the world and have got 7 awards in Tony Award in 1988.

The story happened in 1917. An old nobleman De Chaney was attending an auction in desolate Paris Opera. A music box was putting on the auction table and this one caught De Change’s eyes. This music box connected to a famous event which was called ‘phantom of the opera’ 30 years ago. At that time, De Chaney was a young and handsome nobleman who was also the sponsor of the Paris Opera. He met Christine Daye, who was singing beautifully on the stage, was also a friend in his childhood. Christine has a beautiful voice. She said that she was taught by the angle of music that was always spoke or taught to her in basement, but she never saw him. But the fact is Christine was taught by the phantom of the opera that was an architecture and music talent but also has an evil’s face. The perform was very successful and Christine was famous overnight. After the concert, the phantom appeared in front of Christine and brought her to his house at the center of underground lake. The phantom showed her the music score that he was composing, then showed her the wax statue of Christine with wedding dress. Christine was swooned in exciting and surprising. When she woke up again, she saw a music box next to her. The phantoms brought her back to the opera and then send messages to the managers and De Chaney that they must to change the Prima donna to Christine and must to reserve the box 5 for him. But they did not follow his messages. So at the next concert, the phantom began his terrible vengeance.

Out of fear, Christine and De Chaney ran to the roof of the opera. There they confess their love to each other. But all of these are blow phantom’s eyes. Phantom felt betray and fool from both of them so swear to vengeance.

6 months later, on a masquerade, when De Chaney and Christine promised to marry and nearly everybody supposedly thought that the phantom of the opera would never came back, the phantom suddenly appeared in front of everybody and brought the opera that he just finished called ‘Don Juan Triumphant’\ai\. He ordered the opera show it follow his command. But in the middle of the performance, the phantom killed the hero and instead of him by himself. Then he came to the stage and sang a beautiful aria with Christine. But when Christine found that he is not the real hero, she ripped down the mask of the phantom and made the full house to terrify. The phantom seized Christine to the house at the under lake. But a few moments later, De Chaney force on entrance into the house and fright to the phantom but was tied by phantom. The phantom coerced Christine marry to him.

For save de Chaney, Christine kissed the cursed face. Now, the phantom was failed completely. He set them free and escaped from his house before the police came in. there are only a dismal mask and a music box still in there.

At the end of the movie, the old nobleman came to the front of his wife’s grave, and then put the music box in front of his wife’s gravestone. Suddenly he saw a rose which was tied a ring that Christine gave the phantom…

From this movie, I saw a complicated relationship among Christine, Raoul, and the phantom. The phantom taught Christine to sing and let her to be a famous singer overnight. He thought he can have everything about Christine (including Christine herself).When he found Christine and Raoul fall in love, he felt betray and fool. Then he became his vengeance. In my eyes, there are a twisted mind and sadness.The phantom,who was first being found in a circus, was a noble origin and a genius in architecture and music. All his harrowing experiences began with his facial disfigurement. He wanted the people can respect him even his facial Dis. Another thing is that toy monkey. We can see that dirty toy when the young phantom in circus. He also took this toy when he escaped. Then we can see that toy monkey sitting on the music box with beautiful dress.30 years later, we can see that music box with toy monkey in old De Chaney’s hand and then was putting in front of Christine’s grave. Something is forever even most of people have forgotten about that.

Do you think he is too young to conduct?

I just watched the video which is conducted by a young conductor named Gustavo Dudamel,with EL sistema's top youth orchestra. This concert is very successful because the performers are young, have great technique and energetic.Another side,the conductor is also young, glamorous and energetic man.Because the conductor and performers are contemporaries,so they have many same characters,like they are young,lively,gifted,etc.Maybe this young conductor can not leads a famous orchestra like New York Philharmonic or Berlin Philharmonic , but he can leads a Youth orchestra very well.

Reflection

I had a major lesson before Chinese New Year and my teacher gave me a project-- to learn a violin and piano sonata(D.574 in A major) which is composed by Schubert. I listened to this piece played by Kreisler(violin) and Rachmaninoff(piano).That is fantastic!The melody is smooth and graceful. It begins in A major chord(A-C sharp-E) in Allegro.Then there is a modulation after the first section,the key turns to b minor,so it is compact than the first section.After the second section ,the melody comes back to the beginning in A major.

This week

In this week,I got up at 7:15 every morning and had breakfast very quickly.I have to catch the A2 bus at 7:45 and hurry to school at 8 o'clock. I have to practise before class start because I think it is more effective to practise in the morning.After taking the class all day, I am too tired to practise that I don't want to do anything but to relax myslef when I got back to PGP. These were continued a whole week and I do not want to do anything during my weekend at all!
It is so boring ~!

Why I chose violin

I have been playing violin for 19 years. when I was four years old, I began to play violin with my mother. The reason why I chose violin is because of 'draw lot'. This is an old culture in my hometown. When the children are on their one year old birthday, they will be put into the centre of a circle by their parents. There are some goods putting around then,like a pen,a book,some money,a model,a bowl,a syringe, instruments,etc. At that time,I went straight to a small violin and hold it on. So when I was 4 years old,my mother began to tought me how to play violin even I cannot speak very clearly. Then I have been studying until now.
